Ternate is a small island and town in Archipelago of North Molluccas - Indonesia, located beside along the beach west of larger island namely Halmahera. In pre-colonialism period, Ternate is destination port of seaman Ferdinand Magellan at the journey of encircling earth. And the port of Ternate was the target landing of Magellan's flagship 'Trinidad' (the first ship to sail around the world). But Magellan never make it to Ternate because died on the shores of Philippines, however, his firstmate Juan Sebastian del Cano made it to Ternate and return to Spain, stated as the first man along with 18 crew to make journey around the world.
Ternate has the oldest Clove tree in world and it is still standing today, located in mountainside of this island. All clove seed in the world are originated from this one tree and it is about 370 years old. As history recorded, that the Portugese and Spain along with British and Dutch are searching for the clove seeds. (explore the earth and look for the original spice area).
Today, Ternate island is the Capital town of North Maluku province. There is an active strato volcano named Gamalama (=Big Country), two lakes, an old Sultan's palace, many castil of cololonialism and there are a lot of stories about the history and culture of Ternate people.
